Badger Marble show 2019 and Room to Room Trading

Madison Wisconsin October 20th

I have been missing from the marble scene and this blog for a minute or two, apologies for that.  It will likely happen again, that seems to be how blogs go, but I am working on a bunch of new content, so that should help.

I few weeks ago I went to the Badger Marble show in Madison Wisconsin. It's a predominantly Vintage-Antique show, but there was another other Contemporary marble table, besides me.  It was also an opportunity to participate in Room to Room showing-sales ‘trading’.

The show is hosted by the Marble club of the same name and there were about 20 tables. Everyone was quite friendly, inviting and interested in each others tables.  The show traffic was a little light, but we did have people roaming throughout most of the day and I met several really interested and interesting customers.

I would certainly go again, and look forward to doing so next year. It helps that is is the closet Marble show, which is surprising there isn’t one in the Chicago-land area.

I was most intrigued to experience the room to room trading, as I have heard (especially with Vintage/Antique marble shows) this can be where a good portion of activity is, often into the evening.

Although it sounds a little mysterious if you have not been it is really quite simple.

Best if you think of the hotel hallway as an Antique mall, where everyone many different vendors have some space and they are there to chat, display and show the marbles, glass and misc accessories.

Some have signs on the door, which made it slightly more inviting. Honestly though after entering 1-2 rooms the barrier is broken, and everyone is quite inviting anyway.

I only went 1 day before the show, but heard it is common to have room trading open 2-3 days before, depending on the show and location.

I can say that I did some trading, and enjoyed the day at the hotel before the show as much as doing the show.

I hope that in sharing this, I have broken the ice for others to come to room trading days-evenings. You do not even need to be staying at the hotel, everyone is welcome.

Have a Great day ~ thanks
